Samir Modi is an Academy Award shortlisted director and producer and an alumni of the National Film and Television School. Inspired by his mixed heritage, Samir's directorial focus explores the inner worlds of fringe communities, raising questions of connection, identity and power. As a skilled self-shooter his camera work prioritises finding nuanced observational moments of everyday human life.

His autobiographical film, 'Untied Shoelaces' was shortlisted for a Student Academy Award in 2024. ​​​​

Samir set up Half and Half Films in 2024 and is currently in production for his first feature documentary titled 'Love & Ultraviolence.'
